The Chargers stepped up and defeated the Buena Bulldogs at DP’s Sovine gym, 59-39, after coming off of a bitter loss to the Santa Barbara Dons.
Helping Dos Pueblos improve their league record to 5-4, Zachary Shugart returned from a knee injury and accounted for 11 of DP’s 58 points scored during Monday night’s game.
Proving that they showed up only to win, the Chargers scored 22 points opposed to Buena’s 9 in the first quarter alone and never looked back from there.
Charger player, Devon Ray led the team with 15 points scored and commanded the flow of DP’s offense while Chris Williams followed just behind him with a 12-point contribution.
Despite the 13-point score difference in the first quarter, the Bulldogs matched the Charger intensity for the final 3 quarters of the game, however, DP pulled through in the final quarter with 15 points and came out with the win.
With the return of Zachary Shugart, the Chargers were able to pick up their first league victory since his knee injury put him on the bench.
Next the Chargers take on San Marcos, away, this Friday at 7:00pm.
