Yesterday Dos Pueblos served up a win against rivals, the Santa Barbara Dons, under the lights of DP’s very own field.
With a final score of 2-1, the Chargers are now that much closer to their goal of taking home the League Champion title.
DP maintained strong momentum throughout the whole first half and kept the Dons at bay.
The Charger defense and aggressive offense led senior co-capitan Rachel Smith to set up an assist to junior Ady Willett to score the first goal of the game within the first half.
Santa Barbara tried to make a come back during the second half by taking the momentum and a goal, tying the score 1-1.
Despite the Santa Barbara quick comeback, DP fought for one more goal.
Willett came out victorious again and in the second half scored the goal that gave the Chargers the win.
However, it wasn’t just the goal scoring that put the Chargers on top.
Senior Kayla Klopstein fought and won balls in midfield and Jamie Benedetto stayed aggressive on offense which ultimately helped DP take down the Dons.
Defeating the first place team in the league gave the Chargers hope for their league standings and showed that the Chargers can step up to the plate.
“I’m stoaked with the teams performance,” said Smith. “We stepped up and took care of business.”
