At the CIF prelims this past weekend at the Mt. San Antonio College course, the boys Dos Pueblos cross country team sailed to victory.
Senior Bryan Fernandez ran a time of 14 minutes and 59 seconds and took first place overall. Max Davis took ninth with a time of 15:29. Both Fernandez and Davis’ times helped DP advance past the prelims and beat the second place team, Tesoro, by 18 points.
DP now stands in first place in division two. However, the first place title wasn’t solely due to the work of Fernandez and Davis.
Andrew McGuan came in 13th with a time of 15:43. Cole Smith finished in 19th place (15:53), Ben York finished 32nd (16:10), John Greening 38th (16:29) and Tyler Bradford finished 40th (16:28).
The Chargers’ final score was a total of 92.
The girls placed sixth overall in their division two race. The sixth place finish brings the girls’ season to an end, however, they finished their season strong.
Like Fernandez, Zerrenner finished first in her race and came in with a time of 17:39 and will continue to the next round. Sophomore Elaine McClure improved her place and time from last year, finishing 13th with a time of 18:52. Behind her came Racquel Fygenson (20:22), Tatianna Schluep (20:52) ad Yijin Wang (21:12).
The Boys team will advance taking along with them Addi Zerrenner to compete in the next round of CIF races.
