Sports update: fall sports in CIF play

Golf: Girl’s golf fell in the first round of CIF play after winning league for the 15th year in a row. The team needed to finish fourth in the first round of CIF to continue on but took seventh. See the full story here.
Volleyball: The Chargers finished the season tied for second place in the league after falling to Santa Barbara on DP’s senior night. Tuesday, girl’s volleyball fell to Lakewood in the first round of CIF play. Dos Pueblos lost in three games, final scores 25-16, 25-19, 25-23.
Cross Country: This weekend the boys and girls cross country teams will head down to Mount Sac to compete in the first round of CIF. The boys are currently ranked first in division two and are led by the second runner in the nation, Bryan Fernandez. Fernandez, originally ranked number one, was displaced just this week. On the girls side, Addi Zerrenner is hoping to finish in the top five so that she can move on to the state competition.
Water Polo: Today, Dos Pueblos will host the first round of CIF at DP’s very own Elings Aquatic Center. The DP team will compete in division two and are facing off against the wild-card winners, Vista Murrieta, at 5:00 tonight.
Football: Last Friday, the Dos Pueblos Chargers lost to the Santa Barbara Dons, final score 24-17. The loss crowned both the Chargers and the Dons as Channel League champions and both teams will move into CIF tomorrow. The Chargers play their first round of CIF at Scott O’Leary stadium against Culver City at 7:30.
