The Dos Pueblos cross country team travelled to Lompoc on Friday for the Santa Barbara County Championship meet at Lompoc River Park.
Both the boys and girls team brought home their second consecutive team championships.
The girls were led by Addi Zerrenner who finished first by almost a minute (17:48) ahead of teammate Elaine McClure who was in second place (18:47).
McClure also had a substantial lead over the third place girl who was from St Joe’s. In 18th was Tatianna Schluep (20:19), KK Amble finished 23rd (20:33), and Raquel Fygenson finished 24th (20:35).
“I’m thrilled with the back to back win today,” said Head Coach Leslie Wiggins-Roth. “We had a tough week of training and to see the girls race as well as they did was pretty awesome.”
Bryan Fernandez led the boys team and continued his winning streak and back to back status as County Champion in 14:47, John Greening was third (15:37), fourth was Andrew McGuan (15:42), Ben York placed ninth (15:54), and Cole Smith finished in tenth at 15:59.
Coach Roth said, “To have our top five runners in the top ten speaks volumes to the talent on the boys team.”
Next week, cross country wraps up regular season with League Finals on Thursday, November 1, at Camino Real Park in Ventura.
Varsity races start with the girls at 3:30 p.m. with varsity boys at 4:00 p.m.
